TalentsBridge – German Apprenticeship in Namibia
The Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK Berlin) is launching TalentsBridge, a pioneering pilot project aimed at securing skilled labor specifically for the Berlin economy. At the same time, it addresses the lack of practice-oriented vocational training in Namibia. Within the project, IHK Berlin is responsible for the technical leadership, quality assurance, and recognition of qualifications – with a clear focus on the needs of Berlin’s training and labor market. In addition, TalentsBridge strengthens the city partnership between Windhoek and Berlin and promotes knowledge transfer in the field of vocational education and training.
Opportunities for Companies
Companies can actively participate in the project and contribute to the training process - through internships, scholarships, participation of trainers or by establishing their own local branches. This involvement offers direct benefits, including:
- Well-trained professionals who can be employed directly in Germany or Namibia.
- Opportunities to secure future talent by identifying and recruiting promising individuals for their own company during the training phase.
- Strengthening of their own international presence by becoming active as training companies in Namibia.
- Simplified recruiting for the German market, as graduates are specifically prepared for the requirements in Germany.
Unlock attractive opportunities by joining our initiative, designed to secure talented skilled workers for your company. Be a part of this transformative project and build your bridge to sustainable success by actively participating in the development of your next generation of professionals.

Prospects for Apprentices
At the same time, TalentsBridge offers young people in Namibia the opportunity to receive high-quality training based on German standards. The programs bridge the gap in the Namibian qualification framework (NQF) between existing TVET and higher education. Namibian participants benefit in the following ways:
- Thanks to hands-on training in the dual system, graduates are well-prepared for jobs in both Germany and Namibia.
- With youth unemployment at around 50 % in Namibia, the prospect of employment as a skilled worker in Germany provides an attractive career opportunity.
- In addition to technical skills, apprentices receive language and cultural training to facilitate their integration into German society.
- Graduates obtain a vocational qualification recognized in Germany, offering them long-term career prospects in both the German and Namibian labor markets.
- After completing their training, TalentsBridge also provides support for potential relocation to Germany.
Timeline and Ways to Get Involved
The planning and implementation of TalentsBridge is scheduled for the coming years, with the goal of gradually establishing the training center and launching the first training programs in the short term. Initially, vocational training in the service sector as well as in industry will be the focus, but there are plans to gradually expand the training program to include additional vocational fields. The start of the training operations is planned for 2026. Companies interested in participating can already get in touch to be involved early in the process or to contribute to the development of the training center.
