Determination and recognition of professional qualifications attained abroad

Appropriate certificates are issued once the equivalence of certificates/recognition of professional qualifications for which the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) is the competent authority has been determined.

The responsible body for professions requiring training and advanced training is the IHK FOSA (Foreign Skills Approval):

IHK Chemnitz conducts initial consultations and specifies the reference profession with you. After reviewing the documents, the application can be sent to Nuremberg. You will receive acknowledgement of receipt and a fee assessment within one month. After receipt of the fee, the equivalence determination procedure begins, which is usually completed after 3 months.
The Saxon Recognition Act (SächsBQFG) came into force on 1 January 2014. It regulates the recognition procedure for professions that are regulated by the laws of the State of Saxony.

No decision will be issued, but only a fee-based certificate evaluation that classifies the academic level. This is only applicable for non-regulated professions.
