Chamber of Commerce - Voice of the Economy and Political Partner

Forward-looking and rooted in tradition: for more than five hundred years, the self-administration body of Bremen's economy has endeavoured to promote the success of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and the city of Bremerhaven and its business enterprises. The tradition of Bremen, like that of its economy, is a tradition of independence: as a free city-republic, as a business community which demands its right to shape the city's fortunes, and as a Chamber of Commerce which is devoted to upholding these values.
The present Chamber of Commerce is not only the centre of commercial self-administration, but also asserts the interests of Bremen's business community in political and social aspects. This includes lobbying for efficient infrastructure, promoting regional and urban development, upgrading research infrastructure as well as the expansion of traffic connections in response to changing requirements.
Promoting improvement of business-related infrastructure in Bremen
In an age of rapid changes in the global economy, Bremen is faced with new challenges, additional tasks and functions. The Chamber of Commerce responds to these changing needs by extending the range of services available to its roughly 54.000 member companies, striving for increasing interregional cooperation and promoting the improvement of business-related infrastructure in Bremen.
Consolidating this principle of self-administration for the economy is a prerequisite for ensuring that the Chamber of Commerce continues to generate impetus for Bremen as a business location: as a modern service provider, a representative of the interests of Bremen's business enterprises which is geared to the common good, as a critical partner in the field of politics, as a force which helps to shape the development of Bremen as a business location, as an independent advocate of the market – and as a communication forum for business enterprises in Bremen and Bremerhaven.
