The Danube Region: Our Business Partners of the Future

The southeastern strech of the Danube can be seen as a symbol of the European Union's enlargement in this direction. Our region, with Ulm as the first major city on the Danube, promotes the old traditions associated with the economic area of Southeast Europe.
Economic development in the region of Southeast Europe is experiencing a significant progress. The countries in this region with their growing international division of labour and labour cost advantages are potentially lucrative for German firms. However, numerous direct investments by foreign companies, especially from Germany, are necessary for a sustainable economic upswing required to secure industrial progress in the long term. The combination of low wages and well-trained professionals clearly makes the region interesting to small-scale investors.
With the on-going economic recovery and the increase in real income, the demand for investment and consumer goods will increase further. Excellent sales opportunities await German exporters in this region. Trade with the countries in Central and Southeast Europe is already exhibiting high growth rates.
In establishing the Competence Centre for Southeast Europe, the CCI Ulm has focused its international activities on the countries of this particular region. A useful network of institutions and persons has thus been created, revitalising the traditional ties among the regions and cities along the Danube.
The Southeast Europe Competence Centre of the CCI Ulm has dedicated itself to foster the relations between the countries along the Danube in the mutual interest of business. These countries at our doorstep are business partners of growing importance for the future.
