Translation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) training certificate
If you want to move in international circles after graduating from an IHK training course, you’ll need to have your certificate translated so that your professional qualification can be understood abroad. The Chambers of Commerce and Industry can therefore provide translations of your certificates – with and without grades – in English and French on request.
For the first time, there are standardised IHK certificate translations, making German certificates easier to compare in foreign countries. The translations, however, do not confer any new titles. The original German certificate retains its special status thanks to its stamp and signature.
The IHK translations comply with standardised federal recommendations in order to ensure easy recognition abroad. They use typical business terminology. As far as possible, they follow the standards of the home countries of the English and French languages. However, German qualifications generally do not correspond to foreign qualifications even if the names are the same – the content, prerequisites and scope of the qualifications can be very different. The certificate translations therefore have no impact on any possible equivalence or recognition, nor do they confer any kind of rights in foreign countries.
Older versions of IHK translations exist, such as the European Union Euro Pass or free translations by commercial service providers, in addition to the current IHK translations. These can continue to be used even if the wording is different.
