Over the last decades, Berlin has built up strong economic ties with the United States of America, its biggest and most important trade partner. Thanks to the new US administration and its politics we expect a new impetus for our cooperation.

This virtual delegation shows the potential of keeping in touch without traveling. The visit to the United States aims at highlighting Berlin´s competences in information and communication technologies, clean technologies, urban mobility and energy technology. Together with high-ranking representatives of Berlin’s businesses, we aim to reinforce the already strong and productive business relations between Berlin and the United States.
The Berlin Business Office in New York that I could open up in September 2019 has played a major role in strengthening our partnership, also in rough times. The Office is supporting the United States‘ and Berlin’s businesses by providing information, arranging contacts and presenting concrete trade and cooperation opportunities, even in the current pandemic situation.
The last 15 months turned our plans upside down and once again showed us how interconnected our world is. In addition to the pandemic that broke out, we experienced how we can emerge from crises if we stay a strong community with strong ties for mutual exchange and cooperation.
With this in mind, I would like to thank our partners in the United States and in Berlin! I wish you an inspirational, dynamic and fruitful exchange!
