Our chamber district – from the Prignitz to the Fläming area
By this point, 77,738 member enterprises belong to the IHK Potsdam (as of December 31st, 2018). Covering an overall area of 13,226 square kilometers, the chamber district of the IHK Potsdam ist the second-largest in the country, after the IHK Munich and Upper Bavaria.
And we are growing further. Current statistics on our development show: With over 1.300 new firms in the past year, western Brandenburg has once more emphasized its growing economic significance – even in once-declining regions like the Havelland, Brandenburg an der Havel or the northwest of the state. With a plus of over 5 percent for the headquarters of enterprises listed in the commercial register, there has even been a new record value.

Location information and significant industries
Prominent industrial locations in the chamber district include Hennigsdorf (railway vehicle manufacturing), Ludwigsfelde (commercial road vehicles), Dahlewitz (aircraft engines), Brandenburg a. d. H. (constructional steelwork, steel production, printing machines, gear mechanisms, cogwheels, environmental engineering), Teltow/Stahnsdorf (laser technology, medical technology, electronic components), Potsdam (energy industry, construction), Rathenow (optics, precision tools), Potsdam-Babelsberg (modern media and film industry) and Luckenwalde (biotech).
Since the beginning of the 90s, our IHK district has also become an important base for technology and scientific research and development.
With 53.9 percent total (41,914), the service sector remains the strongest in the IHK district, followed by retail (17.7%, 13,760), industry (7.9%, 6,142), construction (6.4%, 4,972) and hospitality (6.3%, 4,893). The sectors transport (3.1%, 2,399), wholesaling (2.3%, 1,787) and other (2.4%, 1,871) round out the picture and display the broad spectrum of branches operating successfully from Wittenberge to Jüterbog and Rathenow to Zehdenick.

RegionalCenter and Headquarters: There for you
Our main office, the IHK Educational Center and the RegionalCenter Potsdam (Potsdam and Potsdam-Mittelmark) are located in Potsdam, at Breite Straße 2, in the immediate neighborhood of the state parliament, the ministries of infrastructure and state planning, or respectively, for science and culture, along with the location of the Garnison church tower, currently under construction.
