Some 4,000 companies who are members of the Chamber of Commerce are involved in passenger services. Close to half of the almost 4,000 passenger service companies in Hamburg are taxi or hire car companies, followed by vehicle rental companies and other forms of passenger transport.
Taxis are available whenever and wherever they are needed to take passengers to their destinations comfortably and quickly, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. With around 3,200 taxis in total, Hamburg’s taxi industry is an indispensable part of the city’s local public transport.
Hamburg is a popular destination for city trips. Tourists looking to familiarise themselves with the city like to take a tour by bus. Alternatively, the port, the Speicherstadt warehouse district or the Alster lake can be discovered on a launch or a passenger vessel.
Long-distance coaches are another integral part of the sector. These are becoming increasingly popular as a travel option, as demonstrated by the large number of arrivals at Hamburg’s central bus station.
