Approximately 50 per cent of the IT companies in Hamburg provide IT services, with a further 30 per cent or so being involved in software development. In addition, Hamburg is made an IT industry hub by a great many freelancers and IT experts who work in the IT departments of companies in other sectors.
Across the board of the industry’s various segments, Hamburg serves as a business location for or is home to the German headquarters or a key office of a number of well-known IT companies. Hamburg is also shaped as an IT hub by a large number of SMEs. Hamburg’s image as a dynamic centre of IT is rounded off by a strong start-up sector, an above-average proportion of companies that are still going strong in the medium term compared with other sectors and a high degree of satisfaction with the parameters offered here.
