Model arbitration clause

The Court of Arbitration of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce shall have jurisdiction if the parties have agreed to this. In drawing up contracts the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce recommends parties to include the following arbitration clause:

"Any dispute arising in connection with the present contract [exact description of the Contract] or with respect to its validity shall be finally settled by the Court of Arbitration of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, to the exclusion of the ordinary courts of law. The substantive law of ________________________ shall be applicable to such dispute."

Please make sure that it is absolutely clear to which contract the arbitration clause refers and that the arbitration clause or the contract including the arbitration clause is signed by both parties!
