Daimler Center for Automotive Information Technology Innovations (DCAITI)

Researching digitalisation for the city mobility of the future
The Daimler Center for Automotive Information Technology Innovations (DCAITI) specialises in future scenarios in automotive electronics. The institute was created in 2006 by Daimler AG and works jointly with the Smart Mobility group at Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS and the TU Berlin.
With a long history in V2X communication technology, our researchers develop solutions for automated driving and integrated urban mobility and implement advanced driver assistant systems. Communication offers novel insights into driver assistance that no other sensor can provide: a peek into other vehicles – and with the help of smartphones even into vulnerable road users, such as bicycles or e-scooters.
Thus it is possible to share knowledge, intentions and maps between vehicles to improve traffic safety and efficiency. Additionally, with Fraunhofer FOKUS they offer barrier-free indoor-navigation solutions to guide blind and visually impaired visitors through unfamiliar buildings.

1.    Simulation environment Eclipse MOSAIC for evaluating mobility services and test fields for automated driving and vehicle-2-x-communication
2.    Service to locate vulnerable road users with high precision for 5G low-latency applications
in the mobile edge cloud
3.    Barrier-free indoor navigation for iOS and Android based on sensors in the smartphone for positioning
